The renewed eruption of anger and protests by various segments of society across many cities reflects deep disorder, unbearable inequalities, and an extremely critical living situation for the masses. As the years of the Islamic Republic pass, people—especially workers, teachers, urban and rural laborers, women, youth, and oppressed nations—increasingly realize that under this system they will not experience peace, welfare, or social security, nor can they envision a hopeful future.
Absolute poverty, rising inflation, and uncontrolled price increases all stem from the crisis-ridden capitalist structure. The Islamic Republic neither wants nor is able to reduce economic, political, and social crises, as its survival is based on capitalist exploitation and oppression. Furthermore, any effort toward positive change threatens the foundations of the ruling system. Therefore, the Islamic Republic strongly opposes all economic, political, and social demands of workers and the oppressed masses and responds to even the most basic demands with repression and killing.
Repression may temporarily comfort dictators, but it cannot silence the voices of protest. The continuation of class struggle is inevitable. We have seen this reality in the protest movements of 2017, 2018, 2020, and the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement of 2022. Today, once again, protests have turned many cities into arenas of street struggle.
Final victory depends on solidarity, organization, and strengthening the ranks of progressive and freedom-seeking forces, with the unity of workers and the oppressed.
Support for these struggles is the duty of every oppressed and freedom-loving person. The signatories of this statement—independent and active labor and retiree organizations—declare their support for the struggles of the masses and consider themselves soldiers in the great army of workers and laborers.
History teaches us that without a scientific understanding of society and its dynamics, without identifying friends and enemies, without a strategy rooted in such understanding, and without organized, conscious workers and progressive intellectuals, no revolutionary movement can succeed.
Let us unite, organize, and change our destiny.
